Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) is the platform capability that turns unstructured documents - PDFs, scans, photos, emails - into structured data your enterprise apps can act on. Instead of a human keying an invoice into Invoice & AP, the document lands, IDP extracts, and the record is queued for review with the fields pre-populated.
Documents supported
- Invoices - supplier bills with line items, tax breakdowns, totals
- Purchase orders - inbound POs when you're the vendor
- Contracts - clause identification, key dates, renewal terms, party details
- Receipts and expense claims - itemised extraction from photos and scans
- Forms - onboarding paperwork, KYC docs, insurance claims, whatever your business processes
- Emails with attachments - the whole thing gets triaged and routed to the right app
Where it plugs in
IDP isn't a standalone app; it's a capability that lights up wherever documents enter your workflows. Invoice & AP uses it for supplier bills. Contract Management uses it for the contract-review flow. Sales uses it for signed order confirmations. The extractors are shared, but the tuning is per-app so an invoice's "total" and a contract's "total contract value" don't get confused.
Accuracy and review
Modern IDP is very accurate but rarely 100%. Every extraction includes a confidence score; anything below your configured threshold pauses for a human review. Reviewers correct the extraction inline, and the corrections feed back into the model so the same vendor's next invoice is more accurate. Over a few months of use, most tenants see their touch-rate drop below 5% for their common document types.
